What teens want for Christmas

-A A +A

All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth. NOT! What do teens want for Christmas? Some middle and high school teens took a minute to reveal what was on their Christmas lists.
The most popular category this year is electronics. Samantha Courtney, a high school freshman, said she wants an iPod.
Dima Bronisz, a home school sophomore, wants a new laptop computer.
High School sophomore Jordon Krepps, also wants a new computer. Mateo Cardiel, a high school freshman, wants new headphones.
Meanwhile, eighth grade middle school student Devon McClesky said he wants an iPad.
Electronics always seem to be a popular item among teens, but sometimes it’s hard to figure out exactly what to buy.
For those of you who need some help in selecting the perfect electronic gift, here are some ideas for what’s hot this holiday season.
• The Apple iPod classic 16GB Black is a seventh generation item and newest iPod model. It has enough capacity for 40,000 songs, 25,000 photos or 200 hours of video. It carries a list price of $249.
• Another must-have item is the iPad. The Apple iPad 2, 64GB, Wi-Fi in black is the newest iPad, which is thinner and easier to hold than the original version. This one also has a camera. It has movies, shows, songs, games, apps, magazines and books from iTunes. It can be purchased for around $500.
An alternative to the Apple iPad is the Amazon Kindle Fire. It is a full-color 7” multi-touch display Wi-Fi, which also has movies, apps, games, music, reading and more, plus super-fast web browsing. It sells for $199 at amazon.com.
• New notebook computers work with other mobile devices, such as the Compaq CQ57-31US Notebook PC. This model prints wirelessly using Bluetooth. It has a price of $379.99.
• From Acer, the 10.1” second generation Aspire One Happy also stays mobile the whole day with eight hours of battery power, and it comes in four fruity colors: banana cream, blueberry shake, papaya milk and strawberry yogurt. It sells for $349.99.
Headphones are always a popular choice with teens, as well. One of Amazon’s most popular headphone systems is the Plantronics Gamecom X95 for the Xbox 360 gaming system. It lets you wirelessly play games, listen to music and watch movies. The ear pods and headband are specially designed to give longwearing comfort.
Maybe the teen in your life is more interested in books than electronics. If so, there are a few must-reads available this season.
Bella Saeger, eighth grade middle school student, is one of those teens. She said books are on her Christmas list.
Teens will enjoy the long-awaited book, “Inheritance.” This is book number four and the final in the series by Christopher Paolini, which started with the book “Eragon.”
Also, recently released is the second book of the “Heroes of Olympus” book series, “The Son of Neptune,” by Rick Riordan.
It’s not just books and electronics that teens crave, however.
On the top of high school freshman Rosemary Vigil’s Christmas list is a new pair of shoes. Popular clothes items for this year, according to Orvis online, are soft, pullover sweatshirts, followed by bathrobes and zip-neck sweaters for guys.
Now that it is snowing, boots, hats and gloves are sure to be a great find under the Christmas tree.
Of course, if you’re looking for a different type of gift, teens are always eager to receive and devour sugary, sweet treats!
