Warm weather closes Fenton Lake for ice fishing

Animas River: Water flow near Aztec on Monday morning was 379 cfs. Trout fishing was fair using PowerBait, worms, streamers and spinners.
Albuquerque Area Drains: Trout fishing on the Albuquerque Drain, Bernalillo Drain, Belen Riverside Drain and Corrales Drain was good using worms, power eggs, salmon eggs, small jigs and small streamers.
Bluewater Lake: This lake remains closed to fishing due to unsafe ice conditions. For updates, contact the State Park office at 505-876-2391.
Chama River: Monday morning water flows below El Vado and Abiquiu were 98 cfs and 147 cfs respectively.
Fishing below Abiquiu was very good using worms, egg patterns, wooly buggers and midge patterns for trout. Fishing below El Vado was good using worms, salmon eggs, small copper John Barrs and small streamers for a mixed bag of brown and rainbow trout.
Eagle Nest Lake: As of this past Saturday, the ice thickness ranged from 15 to 18 inches and there was some standing water on top.
Fishing was good using small black jigs and meal worms for trout and perch. A few were also caught by anglers using PowerBait. For updated ice conditions, contact the State Park office at 575-377-1594.
Fenton Lake: Warm weather has caused closure of the lake to ice fishing as of Feb. 15. For ice condition updates, contact the state park office at 575-829-3630.
