Football: LA scores three times in second half Monday

By The Staff

The Los Alamos Hilltopper C team football squad fell to the Albuquerque Academy Chargers Monday on the road.
Los Alamos scored three touchdowns in the second half, but those touchdowns weren’t enough to get it back in the contest. The Chargers rolled to a 59-22 victory.
Los Alamos C team coach Marco Lucero said his team was able to move the ball effectively through most of the contest but some costly turnovers and penalties in the first half did in three potential scoring drives.
Academy led 28-0 at halftime.
In the second half, Los Alamos quarterback Bryce Van Etten threw a pair of touchdown passes, one to Sidney Ellis and another to Scott Gasway. Van Etten also ran for a touchdown on a quarterback keeper.
Lucero said he feels the team can improve its results if it can avoid the miscues and tighten up its defense.
