Offense comes up big as Isotopes rout Bees

The Albuquerque Isotopes pounded out 21 hits Tuesday night to pick up the first win of their series against the Salt Lake City Bees.
Trevor Hoffman went 5-for-5 with five RBI and eight of the nine Isotopes hitters in the game got at least two hits as the Isotopes won big, 19-6, at Isotopes Park.
Albuquerque failed to score in just two at-bats Tuesday. It went up 6-2 after two innings and 8-3 after four innings before scoring eight runs in the bottom of the seventh.
The Isotopes had 10 runs and 13 hits off Bees starter Matt Palmer (7-10, 7.37 ERA), who lasted just 4-1/3 innings.
In the seventh, the Isotopes connected on three straight home runs from Jerry Sands, Jamie Hoffmann and Justin Sellers before Ivan De Jesus hit a grand slam.
Mike Parisi (3-1, 7.43) went seven innings on the mound for Albuquerque, giving up five earned runs on seven hits.
Albuquerque, which had lost four of its previous five games at home, will try to close out this homestand at the .500 mark tonight with the series finale against the Bees.
Game time is 7:05 p.m.
The Isotopes (60-58) will then go on the road for four games at Fresno starting Friday and four more at Sacramento. They will then return home for a nine-game homestand Aug. 20 which includes five games against the division-leading Round Rock Express, whom they trail by nine games in the PCL American South standings.
