Isotopes win six of eight at home

The Albuquerque Isotopes look like they’re on a hot streak again, winning 12 of their last 16 and sweeping the Iowa Cubs for the second time this season during their just-completed homestand.
Led by an offensive surge at the plate, Albuquerque was able to grab six wins in eight outings at home against Iowa and Memphis.
Albuquerque starts a nine-game road trip tonight at Round Rock, Texas.
The trip home seemed to do good for Trent Oeltjen, who hit three home runs and drove in five runs in five games at Isotopes Park. Oeltjen, Matt Angle and Scott Van Slyke all had big offensive series’ against the I-Cubs as the Isotopes scored 39 runs in those four games, 36 of those in the first three games of the series.
With his big series, Oeltjen bumped up his season average to .303. He’s one of four Isotopes currently sporting an average of .300 or above, as is Angle (.310).
Albuquerque will not face Iowa again this season. Albuquerque went 12-4 against the I-Cubs and didn’t lose any of the teams’ four series this season.
With their 6-2 performance at home, the Isotopes reclaimed the top spot in the PCL American Southern division. Heading into today’s play, the Isotopes (60-42) hold a two-game lead over the Oklahoma City RedHawks (58-44).
Following these four games against division cellar-dweller Round Rock (42-60), Albuquerque travels to Nashville for five games.
Albuquerque returns home Aug. 1.
