Isotopes take over top spot

The Albuquerque Isotopes moved into first place in the PCL American Southern division standings as they continued their hot streak at home Monday.
With the Isotopes wrapping up an eight-game homestand today, they have taken six of their last seven contests, including an 11-9 victory Monday against Nashville at Isotopes Park.
That win, combined with a loss by Oklahoma City, gives the Isotopes sole possession of first place in the division. The Isotopes (45-33) lead the RedHawks (44-33) by the slimmest of margins, half a game, but they still sit atop the division after letting the lead slip away late last month.
Against Nashville, Albuquerque appeared to break open the game for good with three runs in the seventh inning to take an 11-4 edge, but Nashville stormed back for five runs in the top of the ninth to pull within two before pitcher Wil Ledezma got Nashville’s Jason Jaramillo to bounce into a fielder’s choice and Jay Gibbons to fly out to right to end the threat.
Nashville took advantage of two singles, a double, wild pitches by Ledezman and Ramon Troncoso and a throwing error in left field by Jerry Sands to push four runs across the plate with just one out before Ledezma closed out the contest.
Albuquerque starting pitcher Will Savage bumped up his season record to 10-3, although he gave up four earned runs and two homers in six innings.
The Isotopes will be on the road for seven games starting Wednesday before returning home on July 4.
