Isotopes finish up road series with Tucson Padres tonight

An offense-heavy series between the Albuquerque Isotopes and Tucson Padres wraps up tonight and the Isotopes will return home.
The Isotopes, the Triple-A franchise of the Los Angeles Dodgers, have a chance to even out their road series with the Padres before their eight-game homestand starts Thursday.
At Tucson, the two teams have combined for 40 runs in three games, including Tucson’s 10-4 victory Monday.
The Padres scored eight runs in the first three innings and held on to win Monday. They scored three times in the first and four times in the second to jump out to a big 7-0 lead. The Isotopes battled back to score twice in the top of the third, but the Padres scored another run in the bottom of the third.
Anthony Rizzo of Tucson hit a three-run home run immediately following Aaron Cunningham’s run-scoring double in the second off Albuquerque starting pitcher Steven Jackson (0-2).
One night earlier, the Isotopes pounded out 14 hits en route to a 10-5 win over the Padres. The Isotopes scored six runs in the second and third innings to cruise to that win.
Damaso Espino had a two-run homer in the second Monday and JD Closser brought in two runs with a base hit in the third.
Albuquerque’s Alberto Bastardo (3-1) went seven innings to earn the win, giving up just three runs on seven hits and striking out five.
The Isotopes lost the series opener Saturday, 7-4.
John Ely (1-1, 3.65 ERA) is scheduled to pitch tonight for Albuquerque against Tucson’s Jeremy Hefner (0-3, 6.48).
Currently, Albuquerque is 20-17 in the PCL American South standings. It’s 3-1/2 games behind division-leading Round Rock and a game behind New Orleans in second place.
Albuquerque returns to Isotopes Park for four games against the Reno Aces and four more games against New Orleans’ Zephyrs.
