To put food on everyone’s table requires community collaboration.

As a result, the National Association Letter Carriers-Branch 4112 and the Northern New Mexico District of the Boy Scouts of America is hosting their annual Fall Food Drive Saturday in Los Alamos and White Rock to support the LA Cares food bank.

On Saturday, letter carriers will pick up food placed near mailboxes during their normal route (a flyer will be delivered a few days prior to the drive as a reminder).

Boy Scouts will unload and sort food at both the Knights of Columbus Hall at 401 Trinity Drive (at the corner of DP Road) and at the White Rock Postal Yard. In addition, Cub Scouts will collect donations at both Smith’s Food and Drug in Los Alamos and White Rock.

Donations help those in need within the community and throughout northern New Mexico.

Donations of non-perishable food and supplies include the following suggestions: fruit juice, canned vegetables, dehydrated potatoes, canned meats, low-sugar fruit, low-sugar cereals, spaghetti sauce, pasta, macaroni and cheese, hearty style soups, tomato products, sugar, flour, cooking oil, jelly/jams, peanut butter, healthy school lunch items, canned and dry beans, rice, powdered and canned milk, coffee and tea, salad dressings, mayonnaise, diapers especially sizes five and six, baby wipes, paper towels, toilet paper, laundry detergent, and personal care products.

No glass, please.
