Ice rink will be closed

Los Alamos County Ice Rink will be closed from 1-2:15 p.m. Saturday. The rink will host a private function during that time.
The rink will reopen to the public starting at 2:30 p.m.

Free throw contest is set for Saturday

The Knights of Columbus will host its annual Youth Free Throw Championship Saturday.
The contest is free to boys and girls ages 10-14. The local competition will be from 1-3 p.m. at Griffith Gymnasium.
Registration and parental consent is required. Registration is on-site and will start at 12:30 p.m.

Fencing club starts new class at YMCA

Los Alamos Fencing Club announced it will start a new class for beginning fencers Feb. 7.
Classes will be at 6:30 p.m. at the YMCA’s gymnasium.
To participate, athletes must be 10 years of age or older and parents are encouraged to take the class with their children. Class size will be limited.
Registrations are being accepted at the YMCA’s front desk or at laymca.org. The YMCA provides all necessary equipment for the class.

Racquetball league begins next month

The Family YMCA of Los Alamos is currently taking registrations for its Adult Racquetball League.
Registration for the league is open through Feb. 5.
Schedules are flexible and interested players can coordinate their own matches for the week with opponents.
Several matches are guaranteed throughout the season, which runs from Feb. 21-April 27.
Price for participation is $27 for members, $43 for nonmembers. For more information, call 662-3100.
