New lacrosse program sign-ups are tonight

Registrations for the new Los Alamos Youth Lacrosse program will be accepted at a sign-up session Tuesday.
The session will be at Time Out Pizza in White Rock. It is scheduled from 6:30-8 p.m.
The lacrosse program is for high-school aged boys and girls and for youth league players in grades 4-8.
Registration is $85 per player. The season will run from March-May. Rental equipment may also be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Volunteers are also being sought to assist with coaching.

Tennis meeting set for Wednesday

The Los Alamos Hilltopper girls tennis team will hold an organizational meeting Wednesday.
The meeting will be at the high school’s speech theater starting at 4:15 p.m. Any interested player in grades 8-12 are encouraged to attend.
Those who are unable to attend are asked to call the high school’s athletic office at 663-2351.

Chama Chile Classic is this weekend

The City of Chama is hosting the Chama Chile Ski Classic starting Friday.
The Chama Chile Ski Classic consists of seven cross-country and snowshoe races during the three days.
Clinics on cross-country skiing, as well as broom hockey, Frisbee golf, as well as a costume contest and ice sculpture contest will be held, along with other events.

YMCA’s racquetball league starts in February

The Family YMCA of Los Alamos is currently taking registrations for its Adult Racquetball League.
Registration for the league is open through Feb. 5.
Schedules are flexible and interested players can coordinate their own matches for the week with opponents.
Several matches are guaranteed throughout the season, which runs from Feb. 21-April 27 and ends in a tournament.
Price for participation is $27 for members, $43 for nonmembers. Scholarships may be available through the United Way of Northern New Mexico.

Pajarito Ski Area hosting Women’s Weekend

K2 Skis and Pajarito Mountain will host the fourth annual K2 Women’s Weekend Feb. 10-12.
The Women’s Weekend is a not-for-profit event. Proceeds will provide financial assistance for New Mexico residents suffering from breast or cervical cancer. About $10,000 was raised last year.
