Foursome wins at Special Olympics golf tourney

The team of Steve Sanderson, Sean Rau, Ted Ball and Eddie Sanchez won by six strokes at a fundraising golf tournament for Special Olympics last weekend.
The foursome shot a 56 altogether at the tournament, topping the next-best team of Bruce Norman, Marti Hill, Jeanne Ball and Rhonda McInroy, which finished with a gross score of 62 in the best ball competition.
In all, 84 participants took part in the tournament. Jon and Karen Rau, longtime volunteers of the local Special Olympics program, helped organize Satuday’s event.
Also at the tournament, the team of Anna Swertfeger, Tom Swertfeger, Scott Marriott and Chris Quartieri finished third overall with a score of 63.

Football car washes set for Saturday in LA, White Rock

The Los Alamos Hilltopper football team will hold a pair of fundraising car washes Saturday, one in Los Alamos and one in White Rock.
The car washes will be from 9 a.m.-noon in both locations. The car wash in Los Alamos will be at Del Norte Credit Union and the car wash in White Rock will be at the San Ildefonso Phillips 66 station.
Donations will be accepted for each car washed.

Summer PE classes will be at Chamisa School

Physical education teacher Justin Black will be hosting two sessions of summer physical education classes, the first of which is starting Monday.
The classes will be at Chamisa School is for kids in grades 1-3.
The first session will run from Monday through June 19. The second session will be from June 23-26.
Among the activities planned for the PE classes are disc golf, Dance Dance Revolution on the Xbox and work on coordination skills.
