Football meeting set for tonight

The Los Alamos Hilltopper football team will hold a meeting for any interested participants and their parents for the 2014 fall season. The meeting will be at 6 p.m. today. It will be in the lower common area at Los Alamos High School.
Items of discussion at the meeting include spring and summer conditioning, 7-on-7 tournaments, fundraising and Booster Club opportunities.

LA girls are the state winners in online poll for top program

The Los Alamos Hilltopper girls athletic programs won an online poll for the top program in the state.
Los Alamos will move on to regional competition in the poll, which is sponsored by USA Today. The regional winners will advance to national competition.
The poll is being conducted at contest.usatodayhss.com.
Los Alamos was one of the top five vote-getting schools in the country during the first round of polling.

State events to be streamed live

The New Mexico Activities Association and the NFHS Network will be doing live streaming of the state Class 3A-5A state championship track and field meet and the state baseball and softball championships.
The state track and field meet is Friday and Saturday. Small-school softball championships are scheduled for Friday and large-school softball and baseball championships games will be played Saturday.

Dixon Fun Run set for Saturday

The Dixon Fun Run, a 5K race, will take place Saturday. The race starts at 9 a.m. Saturday at Dixon Elementary School.
The event is held to raise money for Dixon-area educational activities and events.
