The Los Alamos Hilltopper softball team ran its District 2AAAA record to a perfect 12-0 Saturday by taking a home doubleheader from Capital.

Los Alamos crushed the Capital Jaguars in both ends of the doubleheader Saturday at Overlook Park, winning the first game 18-0 in just 2-1/2 innings, then completed the sweep by topping Capital in game two, 13-2 in five innings.

Stephanie Abney needed just two innings to earn the victory in the first game, not allowing a hit and facing the minimum six batters. In game two, Monika Teter pitched three innings of hitless ball.

In both games, Rachel Anaya came in to pitch the final innings.

Los Alamos, which clinched the 2AAAA title a week earlier by sweeping Bernalillo, will now wait to see which team it will face in the Class AAAA championship. The AAAA state tournament will be played May 13-15 in Las Cruces.

In game one, Ashley Valdez went 2-for-3 at the plate, scored two runs and knocked in one. Abney and Shelby Courtright went a combined 4-for-5 and drove in three runs apiece.

In the second game, Tina Radosevich had four RBI and scored a run, while Megan Breiner was 2-for-3 at the plate with a RBI and Anaya went 2-for-4 with two runs driven in.
