Senior centers to host ‘Five Wishes’ presentation

-A A +A

The White Rock and Betty Ehart Senior Centers will each host a presentation on “The Five Wishes.”

The presentations, done in conjunction with Tim Rivera, of Rivera Funeral Homes and Jenifer Bartram of Final Wishes Known, will be today at the Betty Ehart Senior Center and Sept. 18 at the White Rock Senior Center.

The purpose is to foster discussion for those that need a boost to create such documents. Often many find the process time consuming or financially limiting, and these events hope to solve both issues.

“After all the years of meeting with families under what could be described as the worst day of their life,” said Rivera. “I have experienced how much stress and conflict can be avoided if a person documents their personal wishes. I always receive comments on how much people appreciate being able to ask questions and have explanations and answers directly from someone in the profession.”

Bartram will facilitate the discussion for Five Wishes and serves as a mobile notary. The benefit of having a mobile notary gives the document another level of legitimacy. Those who attend today’s event, from 10-11 a.m., will leave with documentation in hand. The team believes that events like this can help take the mystery out of what can feel like a taboo or for some uncomfortable subjects.
