Santa Fe golfer fires two aces in less than a month

-A A +A

Randy Vaughn, a resident of Santa Fe but a frequent competitor at Los Alamos Golf Course, did something he’d never done before earlier this month in Bernalillo.
He did it again over the weekend in Los Alamos.
Vaughn, who has been playing golf four 34 years, had never scored a hole-in-one until June 9, that coming at Twin Warriors Golf Course.
His luck has apparently changed. Vaughn recorded the same feat at LAGC. Sunday, Vaughn aced the No. 4 hole at LAGC, playing in a foursome with veteran local golfers Cliff Fortgang, Art Brown and Darren Knox.
For his ace Sunday, Vaughn hit an 8-iron from 165 yards out, playing off the blue tees.
That ace at LAGC came two weeks to the day after his first career hole-in-one, that coming on the ninth hole at Twin Warriors.

Today is the last day to register for Sunday’s tourney

LAGC is hosting the Parent Child Tournament Sunday morning, but today is the last day to sign up for it.
The tournament, which will start at 8:30 a.m., features either a 2-person best-ball handicap flight and a non-handicap scramble flight. Teams of 2-5 people can participate in the non-handicap event.
The price for participation in the tournament is $35 per person for season passholders and $50 for non-passholders.
The course’s annual golf swap is also scheduled for Sunday.
More information on the two events can be found by calling LAGC’s pro shop at 662-8139.
