Roy Cope calls his finish time perfectly

Running: Pace Race returns Tuesday starting at Barranca Mesa Elementary

Roy Cope had a perfect prediction at this week’s Atomic City Roadrunners’ Pace Race.
The Pace Race was run on North Mesa. It started at Los Alamos Middle School.
Cope’s perfect prediction came on the 1-mile course Tuesday evening. The next-best prediction was Alexander Romero, running on the 3-mile course, who had an error of 21 seconds.
The fastest finisher on the long course was John Rees, who completed it in 20 minutes, 55 seconds. Nikol Strother finished in 26:05.
On the 1-mile course, 11-year-old Jacob Thompson finished in 9:56, while Ann Nichols finished in 17:25.
The next Pace Race will be Tuesday starting at Barranca Mesa Elementary School. Race time is 6 p.m.
