Thoma’s soccer team wins at showcase

Soccer player Andy Thoma’s club team, Elite FC Gladiator, took first place at the Disney College Showcase last week.

The U16 team based in Albuquerque picked up a third-place ranking in the nation and a first-place ranking in Region IV with its win at the showcase tournament.

Thoma is a sophomore at Los Alamos High School and was a second team All-District selection in the 2008 season.

Koski takes top lifting honor to close out 2008

Team KSC Powerlifting member Bob Koski finished his third consecutive undefeated season last month.

Koski won the NASA PowerSports (curl, bench press, deadlift) at the Push It, Pull It, Lift It Meet in Rio Rancho. Koski lifted a season’s best total of 876 pounds winning the Men’s 220 Sub-master’s Pure Division.

In addition to his 10-meet winning streak, Koski bettered his own New Mexico record in the strict curl, lifting a competition best 170 pounds.

Randolph named to All-Star rodeo squad

Local rodeo competitor Trae Randolph was named to the National High School Rodeo Association Wrangler Division All-Star Rodeo team recently.

Randolph earned a spot on the team based on several factors, including academic eligibility, leadership qualities and rodeo achievement.

Members of the team receive official competition apparel and a certificate signed by Phil McAdams, president of Wrangler Jeans and Shirts.
