Moore wins distinguished award

Local athlete Michael Moore received the 2013 Marly Pineda Memorial Award for men’s long distance swimming in New Mexico.
Moore has been swimming with the Pajarito Aquatic Club, under the supervision of Phil Coe and is also a member of the Los Alamos Hilltopper swim team, coached by Stu Corliss.
Pineda was a New Mexico resident of Bosque Farms, and was a 2008
graduate of Smith College in Northampton, Mass., where she was a
distinguished four-year member of the swimming and diving team.
She died in a bicycle accident in Boston in 2010.
The Marly Pineda Award continues to honor her passion and dedication to the sport of swimming.

Local crew calls 6-man title game

An officiating crew from Los Alamos was on-hand to call the state championship 6-man football game Nov. 16 in Lake Arthur.
The championship game crew included referee Kerry Coffelt, umpire Alan Kirby, linesman Larry Vaughn, line judge Roger Anaya and back judge Rick Hinckley.
The 6-man championship game was played between Lake Arthur and Hondo. Lake Arthur won the contest 66-50.

Reardon wins at Yum Run

Former cross country standout Sean Reardon was the top finisher at last month’s Yum Run.
Reardon, a redshirt freshman at Adams State University, finished with a time of 16 minutes, 23 seconds to win the race.
He and all five other redshirts at Adams State, in Alamosa took part in the annual 5K race.
