Ashley Pond rededication set for May 9

The Los Alamos County Council will host the official grand opening and re-dedication of Ashley Pond Park at 4 p.m. May 9 at the park’s concert stage.
The community is invited to join the council, project sponsors and project team as they celebrate the improvements and renovations recently completed at the park.
The event will include the unveiling of the dedication plaque that will be installed at the park and conclude with the official ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new stage.
Special music will performed by the Barranca Mesa Bobcat Choir on the stage.
Refreshments will be served.

SAN needs volunteers

Volunteers are needed to help with events for the community-sponsored, all-night senior graduation celebration known as SAN (Senior Appreciation Night) for shifts that begin at 6 p.m, on Saturday, May 31.
SAN was created as a fun, safe alternative to dangerous celebrations for graduates. The event is in its 30th year and typically serves 350 students.
Approximately 50 volunteers are still needed to work a two-to-three-hour shift at an early evening barbecue and at the Youth Activity Center, to chaperone the middle evening Wild West Photos and roller skating, and to run a limbo game at Ruby K’s later that evening, and to chaperone a carnival and movies late in the evening.
Volunteers may email Diana Martinez at dmartinez@laymca.org, or call at 662-3100.
