The Los Alamos Piecemakers Quilt Guild is presenting Jean Biddick, a nationally-known, award-winning quilter, at its monthly meeting  from 7-9 p.m. March 23 at the White Rock Baptist Church.

Biddick’s passion has been designing quilts inspired by intricate mosaic tile work seen in cathedrals and historic buildings worldwide.

She has received numerous accolades for her machine-pieced mosaic tile quilts, including awards from American Quilter’s Society and the International Quilt Festival.

Her quilt ‘Truro Mosaic II’ has been displayed in Truro Cathedral where visitors could see both the tile floor and the quilt it inspired.

She is the author of “Blended Quilt Backgrounds” and “Masterful Machine Pieced Quilts,” both published by the American Quilting Society.

On March 24,  Biddick will conduct a daytime six-hour workshop titled “Blended Backgrounds,” where students will learn to add interest to traditionally set blocks by treating the background as an additional design element.

Guild and non-guild members alike are welcome to attend Biddick’s presentation or enroll in her workshop on Wednesday.

The cost of the workshop is $45 for guild members and $55 for non-guild members.

Please contact Jo Ann Painter at 672-1583 or jpainter@q.com for further information or to enroll in the workshop. Additional guild information is also available on Web site, www.vla.com/lap.
