Movie Review: ‘Catching Fire’ filled with loveable characters

-A A +A

By Lily Johnson and Kenzi Hunsaker

“Catching Fire” is based on the second installment of “The Hunger Games” trilogy, written by Suzanne Collins.
The film begins as Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) has returned home safely after winning the 74th annual Hunger Games, along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson).
After their victory, Katniss and Peeta embark on a “Victor’s Tour” of all 12 districts.
Along the way, Katniss notices that the people in the districts were rebellious, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow (Donald Sutherland), who is preparing the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) — a competition that could change Panem forever.
This intriguing film follows the book almost word for word, making the storyline easy to understand.
It scores a nine out of 10 for the special effects, believable acting and how the characters were portrayed.
This movie is great for the teen to young adult category and by the end of the film; you are guaranteed to fall in love with each and every one of the characters.
After watching “Catching Fire” you won’t be able to wait for what “Mockingjay,” the third film of the trilogy, has in store.
