Ministry to open store to help youth

-A A +A

A new ministry has been formed by the First United Methodist Church youth ministry. Aaron’s Kids Closet, a free store, opens on March 22.

The ministry is asking the community for assistance in getting the word out as a resource for the young people. Donations of gently used items are requested.
There are certain items that are not sanitary to reuse, such as under-garments, therefore financial contribution would be accepted so we can provide these items.

Collections for donations are ongoing until the opening of the store from 1-4 p.m. March 22 at the First United Methodist Church in Los Alamos.

Aaron’s Kids was started as a ministry for the youth of this community as an outreach of the First United Methodist Church-Los Alamos, when the need was identified to provide lunches to the middle school and high school youth.  The need goes further; there is a need for clothing and shoes, as well as backpacks and lunch boxes.

If anyone would like to contribute to this youth ministry call 662-6277 or 660-0340 to volunteer time, donate clothing or shoes, or donate financially.

When open, store hours will be 1-4 p.m. the second and fourth Saturday of the month.

Just before the store opens on those days, there will be devotion time to anyone who would like to participate. Devotion is not required to shop or be a member of the store.

Since everything in the store is donated, there will be monthly shopping limits on how any items an individual/family may pick out each month.

What can be picked up each month will change based on the donations that are received.
