Lobo women’s track earns academic honors for 2013 season

ALBUQUERQUE — The University of New Mexico women’s track and field squad was named Division I All-Academic Track & Field teams by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Meanwhile, seven women were awarded individual All-Academic honors.
The USTFCCCA All-Academic Team award, recognizes teams that registered a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or higher during the academic year.
The UNM women, with a team GPA of 3.47, were one of five Mountain West Schools to earn the honor, and were tops in the conference.
The women also tied for the 12th-best GPA out of the 187 Division I institutions that were recognized.
Individually, the Lobos also produced stellar academic results, with seven student-athletes earning USTFCCCA All-Academic honors for their combined efforts.
The individual award is awarded to student-athlete who attain a 3.25 GPA and either finished the regular season indoors ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event (as per the official NCAA proof-of-performance list) or participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Outdoor Championships.
For the New Mexico women, Imogen Ainsworth (3.78 GPA), Charlotte Arter (3.54), Samantha Bowe (3.54), Amber Menke (3.46), Janna Mitsos (3.43), Josephine Moultrie (3.31) and Margo Tucker (3.75) earned the individual honors.
