Crime > Accused of mailing controlled substances to jail

By The Staff

Los Alamos Police detectives are searching for Irene Quintana, 49, of Chamita.
Quintana is wanted on a warrant with two charges: Distribution of a Controlled Substance (third degree felony) and Conspiracy (fourth degree felony).

Earlier this month, Quintana is suspected of attempting to send controlled substances through the mail into the Los Alamos Detention Center.

“I want to commend the alert jail staff who were able to ascertain the contraband coming into our jail. Our detention staff has a challenging job of not only maintaining order within the jail but to make sure the environment is safe from outside influences while still respecting inmate rights,” detective Sgt. Oliver Morris said. “We also will not fail to investigate anyone who attempts to perform such actions in the future”

Quintana is 5-foot-4 and approximately 162 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair, and she was last known to be driving a black GMC Yukon with tinted windows and 20-inch rims.

If you have any information regarding her whereabouts, contact the Los Alamos Police Department dispatch line at 662-8222.
