The Albuquerque Isotopes posted their fourth straight win Thursday, knocking off the Iowa Cubs in Des Moines.
Albuquerque’s Angel Castro threw 7 innings of four-hit ball as the Isotopes downed the Cubs 4-1 in the first game of their road series. The win comes on the heels of a three-game Isotopes sweep of Nashville.
Castro improved his record to 6-2 with the performance. He allowed just the one earned run in the seventh inning. Peter Moylan and Javy Guerra threw the eighth and ninth, with Guerra earning his third save.
Albuquerque scored twice in the top of the first, all the runs it would need, then added single tallies in the third and fifth. Third baseman Ian Stewart, batting in the clean-up spot, drove in a pair of runs, including hitting a solo home run in the third.
The Isotopes (54-41) are currently sitting atop the PCL American Southern division standings, two games ahead of Round Rock and three games ahead of Oklahoma City.
