SANTA CLARA PUEBLO, N.M. (AP) — New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez is set to visit Santa Clara Pueblo to get a firsthand look at flood damage and recovery efforts on the tribe's land.

Martinez and state emergency management officials will meet with pueblo Gov. Walter Dasheno on Tuesday afternoon.

Dasheno has been pressing federal officials to release funding that will help the tribe repair roads, remove debris and build infrastructure to control runoff from the burn scar of last year's Las Conchas Fire.

The blaze burned hundreds of square miles of the Jemez Mountains and resulted in flooding in Santa Clara Canyon last year and again last week.

The tribe and contractors have been working on recovery projects, but Dasheno says some of that was compromised with last week's flooding.
