Former Los Alamos Hilltopper standout basketball player Taylor Ealey will get one more chance to shine at Thursday’s North-South All-Star Game.

Ealey, one of the main cogs in the Hilltoppers’ recent successes, is scheduled to participate in the North-South All-Star Game, which will be played in Albuquerque. Which Albuquerque gym the game will be played in had not, however, been announced as of this morning.

The 2009-10 season was a big one for Ealey. In addition to being named to the All-Star team, one of just two Hilltopper boys or girls basketball players to be named a North All-Star, Ealey was tabbed as the District 2AAAA co-Player of the Year with Española Valley’s Nisa Duran, who was also selected for the North All-Stars.

This season, Ealey finished as Los Alamos’ scoring leader. Ealey had a 14.4-points per game average while grabbing 6.1 rebounds per game — second on the team behind only forward Shelby Courtright.

The North-South contests are annual events hosted by the New Mexico High School Coaches Association.

The girls basketball game has been put on annually since 1981. The games involve most major prep team sports that are played interscholastically in the state of New Mexico.

Ealey had her first practice with her North teammates — which are selected from among the top graduating seniors in the state in each sport — this morning in Albuquerque.

In addition to being Los Alamos’ biggest offensive threats, Ealey was also a solid defensive performer, finishing first on the Hiltoppers in blocked shots (30) and second on the team in steals (71).
