Los Alamos football stars Raul Rodriguez and Zach Mang were named the top players in District 2AAAA this season, and head coach Bob Scott was named top coach for 2008.

Rodriguez, a senior running back, earned District Offensive Player of the Year honors when All-District awards were announced this week.

Meanwhile, the District Defensive Player of the Year honors went to Mang, a senior safety for the Hilltoppers.

In all, nine Hilltoppers were named to the All-District first team and 10 others were named to the second team. Another four received Honorable Mentions from district coaches.

Scott, the third-winningest active coach in the state with 120 victories, led his team to an 8-3 record in 2008 and a 4-0 record in District 2AAAA, its third district championship in the last four seasons.
