SANTA FE (AP) — Former state utility regulator Jerome Block Jr. is back in jail.
Records show Block was arrested Friday and booked into the Santa Fe County jail on a probation violation.
Albuquerque television station KOB-TV reports that Block is being held without bond but the circumstances around his arrest are unclear.
In March, Block avoided a lengthy prison sentence when a state judge gave him probation for election law violations, misuse of taxpayer money and other felonies.
Block had faced up to 4 1/2 years in prison after failing to comply with a plea deal requirement to complete a court-supervised drug treatment program.
In addition to probation, the judge ordered substance abuse treatment for Block and warned him that he could be sent to prison if he ran into more legal problems.
