Breaking communication barriers with your dog

Are you and your pet not on the same wavelength? Does it seem your commands are falling on deaf ears? Suzy Godsey, a trainer who uses the tools from Access Consciousness, can help improve the communication between pets and their owners.

Godsey will share her tools with Los Alamos pet owners in September.

Her class, The Happy Dog with Suzy Godsey, will be held from 5:30-9:30 p.m. Sept. 8-9 at the Los Alamos Dog Obedience Club, located at 246 E. Road.

In addition, she will host Horses with Suzy Godsey from 3:30-7:30 p.m. Sept. 10  at the Pony Club Ring, located in North Mesa Stables.

She will be also be offering classes to the Los Alamos Pony Club and volunteers who work at the Los Alamos Animal Shelter. The course for the Pony Club will be held from 4-5 p.m. Sept. 9 at the Pony Club Ring while the class for shelter volunteer will be held from 10-11 a.m. Sept. 10 at the Los Alamos Dog Obedience Club.

In the class for dogs, Godsey will help participants smooth out the behavioral kinks in their dogs such as out-of-control actions, aggressiveness, shyness, skittishness or fear.

For horse owners, she will teach them simple and effective hands-on body energy processes that will improve relaxation, increased circulation, better performance, longer strides and other benefits in the horse.

To achieve these results, Godsey will offer hands-on tools that use energy work and equine rolfing methods.

For dogs, Godsey will teach people to communicate effectively with their canines. Rather than language, dogs use energy to communicate. Therefore, if people use energy to communicate with their pets, a lot of problems can be resolved.

The benefits of using the Access Consciousness methods include having more ease in life and gaining more optimism.

Godsey said she tried out Access Consciousness at a friend’s suggestion. “So much changed for me in an hour and a half,” she said.

So much changed, in fact, that Godsey said she wanted to do another session.

“I was so intrigued that I had to keep going,” she said.

She has been using Access Consciousness for five years. Godsey has also had a long relationship with dogs. She has always been intrigued with dogs, ever since she was a child.  She even served as a dog walker for some time. Today, Godsey travels extensively with her program and has worked with Dog Whisperer Cesar Milan.

The Happy Dog program costs $150 per person per class, $225 for both classes and $200 for couples. To just observe the class is $50.

Horses with Suzie costs $150 per person or $200 per couple. Children age 16 to 18 will be admitted for half price. Children younger than 16 can attend both classes at no charge.  The Pony Club class and the class for shelter volunteers are both free. For more information, call 662-0012.
