The 8th Annual Southern Rockies Natural Bodybuilding and Figure Competition is scheduled for Aug. 6 at the Duane Smith Auditorium.
The competition, which is hosted by Los Alamos Fitness Center, attracts competitors from New Mexico and around the country. The bodybuilding competition is expected to have entries in several different categories — men’s bodybuilding, women’s bodybuilding, women’s figure, female fitness model and, new this year, women’s bikini model.
The judges will get their best look at competitors at the prejudging event. At the prejudging, held at the Smith Auditorium at 10 a.m. Aug. 6, each group of bodybuilders will come out on stage together to perform mandatory poses which include front double biceps, back lat spread, side chest, most muscular and others.
These poses will give the judges an opportunity to compare the individuals in each group more closely. Figure, fitness and bikini model contestants will also perform during the morning show.
While the morning prejudging is where the judges will get their best look at the competitors, the night show will give the competitors a chance to spice things up with individual routines set to music.
Again this year, the evening show will include more entertainment, including fitness hall of fame awards presentations, dance group exhibitions and other activities.
Tickets for both the prejudging and the evening show are on sale now at Los Alamos Fitness Center. Tickets will also be sold at the door.
