The Los Alamos Volunteer Examiner Group will be giving exams for new Amateur Radio Licenses. 6:30 p.m. in the Club Meeting Room at 4017 Arkansas (the Old Fire Barn).  Bring a picture ID, or two other forms of ID with name and address.  Los Alamos National Laboratory Lecture Series: Truman’s Decision to Drop the Bombs. 5:30 to 7 p.m. Bradbury Science Museum. Professor Noel Pugach, of the University of New Mexico, will discuss President Harry Truman’s decision to use the atomic bombs. For more information, call 667-4444. 


Snake safety with Tom Wyant. 7-8 p.m. at Pajarito Environmental Education Center. Learn what to do when there is an encounter with a snake in the wild, as well as proper identification of New Mexico’s native snakes. Free.

The League of Women Voters’ Lunch with a Leader will feature Ellen Morris Bond the executive director of Self-Help at 11:40 a.m. in Mesa Library. This monthly event is open to the entire community.

Janice Wall and Shaun Gilmore Mostly Clear and Partly Cloudy: Climate as Metaphor. Artist Reception, 4:30-6:30 p.m. Mesa Public Library Art Gallery. The themes spin out metaphorically from climate: climate as natural occurrence and changing atmospheric conditions, climate as political and emotional states. Exhibit runs through Aug. 4.
