Los Alamos Chapter #63, Order of the Eastern Star will be have the final sale of holiday cakes at Los Alamos National Bank from 9 a.m. until closing. For more information, call Nina Laird at 662-7580.

The United Church of Los Alamos will have a 4 p.m. service on Christmas Eve followed by a live nativity. Residents are welcome to attend the service or stop by the live nativity for refreshments throughout the evening. The nativity will be at Central and Canyon, with a variety of animals. Those wishing to volunteer can call the church office at 662-2971.

Luminaria Skate Christmas Eve at the Ice Rink. Luminarias and other lights illuminate the rink and holiday music plays in the background. Hot cocoa and coffee are included in the admission price. The event is from 5-7 p.m. Saturday. Admission is $6.50 for children six and older; and $2.50 for children five years old and younger. No passes accepted. Contact the Ice Rink at 662-4500 for more information.

The Los Alamos Big Band presents a Christmas dance from 7:30 p.m.-10:30 p.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish Hall. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students.

Dec. 31
Los Alamos Little Theatre presents “A Thousand Clowns,” by Herb Gardner. Cowgirl BBQ will cater a Texas-style dinner. There will be a New Year’s Eve countdown and celebration, with music and dancing following the show. Patrick Kelly will act as emcee and DJ. Tickets are $45 per person and are available at CB Fox Department Store. Doors open at 7 p.m.

Jan. 9
Summit Garden Club will meet with Los Alamos County extension officer Carlos Valdez speaking. Visitors welcome. For more information, call Marion Good at 575-543-5484.

Jan. 19
Individuals and volunteers interested in helping to plan a safe, fun-filled, drug free, all-night celebration for Los Alamos High School and home school graduating seniors are invited to a Senior Appreciation Night planning meeting from 1–2 p.m. Jan. 19 at the Aquatic Center Training Room, 2760 Canyon Road. Parents, organization representatives, community service groups and business owners should attend.
