KOATS for Kids campaign kicks off

Twenty-five years ago, New Mexicans answered the call to keep kids warm during the cold winter months. Now, a quarter century later, KOATs for Kids has grown to one of the most recognizable and successful charitable operations in the Land of Enchantment.
The 25th annual KOATs for Kids campaign kicks off this week and will run through Dec. 31.
This year, KOAT 7 is joining forces with Star Bright Cleaners, Molina Healthcare, New Mexico Educators Federal Credit Union, Garcia Automotive Group, Mattress Firm, and Williamson Foundation. Coats can be donated at any of the partner locations, or at KOAT 7’s studios at 3801 Carlisle Blvd NE.
Cash donations will also be accepted at New Mexico Educators Federal Credit Union. The donated money is used to purchase additional coats in order to meet the need.
Since 1989, this statewide community service event sponsored by KOAT 7 has delivered approximately 285,000 coats to needy children. Together with the New Mexico National Guard and Star Bright Cleaners, thousands of coats will be cleaned and distributed to school districts across the state again this year.
KOAT 7 has partnered with A Virtual Receptionist to set up a hotline for anyone needing further information on donating or receiving a coat. The number is 800-678-KOAT. Information is also available on the KOATs for Kids page at koat.com/Sponsors/koats-for-kids/9694278.
