Science on Tap. 5:30-7 p.m. at the Manhattan Project Restaurant. Hunter McDaniel, a Los Alamos National Laboratory post-doc researcher, will talk about next generation Quantum Dots and how they could revolutionize solar cell technology.

Downtown Dogs. A weekly walking group for dogs and humans. The walk starts from Pet Pangaea at 6 p.m. for a stroll around downtown Los Alamos. Bring a leash, no longer than six feet.

Part of Take Wing Week! “A Birder’s Guide to Everything.” 6:30 p.m. A touching film for all ages. Special introduction by local birder Hari Viswanathan, who will briefly recount his own birding discovery of a lifetime. Mountain Elementary Halloween Carnival. 4:30-7:30 p.m. Weather permitting, game booths will be outdoors on the upper playground. Festivities include the haunted house, book fair, cake walk, face painting, game booths and prizes. Tickets are $5 for 20; games are three tickets each, cake walk is four tickets and haunted house is five. All proceeds benefit the students of Mountain School through the PTA.
