The Los Alamos Federated Republican Women’s monthly meeting will be noon-1:30 p.m. at the Ridgepark Clubhouse. All registered Republican Women and the public are welcome to attend. Meet some of the Republican candidates including Jefferson Byrd for HD3, Robert Aragon for state auditor, Geoff Rodgers for CD3 and many local candidates, LAFRW Officers for the 2015-2016 term will also be elected. Members are reminded to bring non-perishable food items and toiletries for the Esperanza Shelter in Santa Fe (a shelter for abused women and children that does a lot of retraining and counseling). Art on Tap Series. 5:30-7 p.m. Art therapist/counselor Trish Ebbert will talk about the benefits of art for one’s good mental health.

“Amphibian Declines: Around the World and in Your Backyard.” 7 p.m. Fish and wildlife biologist Michelle Christman will talk about amphibian biology, threats amphibians face and general amphibian declines, both around the world and locally. The recent decision to list the Jemez Mountains salamander as an endangered species will also be discussed. No advance registration required. Free. Los Alamos County and the Los Alamos League of Women Voters presents back-to-back forums at Fuller Lodge. At 5:30 p.m., the forum on the Structure-of-Government Charter Amendments. At 6:45 p.m. the forum for candidates for the Third Congressional District, will feature Democratic Candidate Ben Ray Luján and Republican Candidate Jefferson Byrd.

Downtown Dogs. A weekly walking group for dogs and humans. The walk starts from Pet Pangaea at 6 p.m. for a stroll around downtown Los Alamos. Bring a leash, no longer than six feet.

Aaron’s Closet free store is open from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 715 Diamond Drive. Clothing, Shoes, Coats, etc. are available for school age children. To donate gently used clothing and shoes, call church office or Michelle at 660-0340. The closet is also open the following Friday from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

The Los Alamos Genealogical Association will meet 7 p.m. at the Mesa Public Library. Lisa Kendrick, the genealogical librarian for the Albuquerque Public Library, will present the topic “Using the Genealogical Resources of the Albuquerque Public Library.” The public is invited, a no host dinner will be 5:30 p.m. at China Moon.
