Sept. 8
The League of Women Voter’s Lunch with a Leader will be at 11:45 a.m. Sept. 8 at Central Avenue Grill. The guest speaker will be Los Alamos County Environmental Services Specialist Tom Nagawiecki.

Sept. 9
 The annual Knights of Columbus Scholarship Golf Tournament has been slated for Sept. 9 at the Los Alamos Golf Club. Entry fee is $60 for golf club members and $100 for all others. Format will be two-person team modified Las Vegas style scramble. Entry fee includes green fees, golf cart, lunch, drink ticket, awards and prizes. Central Avenue Grill will provide lunch. All proceeds from the tournament will be used for scholarships for 2012 high school senior. For more information, call Tom Courtney, 699-4769.

Sept. 10
The 17th Annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s will begin with registration at 4 p.m. at the Betty Ehart Senior Center. A basket/quilt raffle will be from 4-6:30 p.m., along with a barbecue. The Great Books Discussion Group will resume its second and fourth Tuesday sessions on Sept. 13. Meetings are scheduled from 1:15-3:30 p.m. The group will continue with the Great Books Short Story Omnibus. The Los Alamos County Republican Party will meet at 7:30 p.m. at the Best Western Hilltop House, third floor conference room. The topic will be redistricting in the state of New Mexico.

Eliot Fisk, classical guitarist, will perform at 4 p.m. at the Duane Smith Auditorium.

Recurring meetings

The Atomic City Corvette Club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month at Time Out Pizza in White Rock. Guests are always welcome. You do not need to own a Corvette to attend. For more information, contact Mike Luna at 672-4087.
