Downtown Dogs. A weekly walking group for dogs and humans. The walk starts from Pet Pangaea at 6 p.m. on Thursday nights for a stroll around downtown Los Alamos. Bring a leash, no longer than six feet.


Firecracker 5K Fun Run. 8-10 a.m. at the Family YMCA. 


The Fourth of July Celebration. 2-10 p.m. at Overlook Park in White Rock. Music from James Carothers and the Renegade Mountain Band.

Jemez Thrift Shop Bag Days. 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 13 Sherwood Blvd. in White Rock. 


Bradbury Science Museum Cinema. 10:30 a.m. every Saturday. Short science films ranging in topics from microbes to aquifers to addiction. Cowboy Breakfast at Los Alamos Sheriff’s Posse Lodge. 7-11 a.m. at 650 North Mesa Road, near the stables. $7 adult, $4 children 10 years and under. 


Chapter AK, P.E.O., will hold its next meeting 11:45 a.m. at Linda Valenti’s home, south of the Santa Fe Opera. Members with last names starting with I-Z are asked to bring salads. Karla Crane will provide the program and serve as co-hostess. RSVP to Linda at 984-9153. Carpooling is encouraged. Driving directions will be provided to all who are able to attend.
