The Mesa Public Library’s Authors Speaks Series presents Paul Berkowitz, author of “The Case of the Indian Trader,” at 7 p.m. in the upstairs rotunda of the Mesa Public Library.

“Meet the PEEC Critters” program is from 10-11 a.m. Animal care expert Jennifer Macke will discuss all the habits and facts about PEEC’s reptiles and amphibians and let you get close to them. $10 per family or $8 for PEEC members, with advance registration required because space is limited. The Pajarito Astronomers will hold a county-sponsored Dark Night at 8:30 p.m. at Spirio Soccer Field, Overlook Park. The public is invited to come out, wander among the telescopes and star gaze, weather permitting. The planets Mercury, Saturn and Neptune will be visible.
