The First Ever Student Art Show at Karen Wray Fine Art features works by Wray’s students. The show runs through Thursday evening at 2101 Trinity Dr. Suite B2.

The Mesa Public Library Free Film Series presents, “Run Lola Run,” at 6:30 p.m. in the upstairs meeting rooms.

The White Rock Family Friendly Film Series presents, “The Adventures of Tin Tin,” at 7 p.m. in the White Rock Town Hall.

There will be an exhibit opening, “Los Alamos Opera Guild,” from 5-7 p.m., as part of Los Alamos Friday Night, at the Los Alamos Historical Museum.

There will be an opening reception for Harry C. Finney’s “Images for the Fire Gate Poems, Paintings, Prints, Drawings and Photographs,” exhibit from 7-8:30 p.m. in the upstairs art gallery at Mesa Public Library. The exhibit is on display June 2-30.

Hike to Guaje Canyon Overlook with PEEC. Paul Arendt leads this eight-mile hike. Meet at PEEC at 9 a.m. to carpool to the trailhead at the ski hill; bring lunch and water. Dogs welcome. The Los Alamos Cooperative Market will host its inaugural Bike Swap from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. The Los Alamos Singletrack Association sponsors the event, an International Mountain Biking Association affiliated club. Sellers can drop off items between 9 and 11 a.m. June 10 at the co-op. Sellers can complete forms at the store or download forms at losalamos.coop. For more information, visit losalamos.coop.

Medicine Hawk’s Mountain School starts. Rourke McDermott will teach this primitive survival skills class for kids entering grades 4-7 in the Jemez Mountains.  Learn shelter making, axe use, fire building, and more.  Saturdays (and two Sundays) from 1:30-3 pm from June 10- July 28th.  $60 or $48 for PEEC members or second siblings for the whole summer.  Carpools are being set up for those who are interested.  Register at PajaritoEEC.org, by calling 662-0460, or emailing Programs@PajaritoEEC.org.

The Los Alamos Opera Guild is hosting a fundraising event at 3 p.m. at the Blue Window Bistro. Hors d’oeuvres are included in the ticket price for the musical fashion show, which is $30 per person or $50 per couple. There will be History Adventures at Fuller Lodge, featuring Science Fun! with the Bradbury Science Museum. Story time and hands-on activities for pre-school through third grade. At 10 and 11 a.m.

Registration for the next session of dog training classes offered by the  Los Alamos Dog Obedience Club will begin June 11.  Classes  this session include Agility III,  Puppy Kindergarten, Basic Manners, Recall, Competitive Obedience and Conformation and will begin the week of July 9. Class schedule, registration guidelines and registration form will be at ladoc.dogbits.com and at the LADOC building, 246 East Road. Registration is first-come, first-served basis. Registration materials must be postmarked by June 22.

 Summer Family Evenings at PEEC presents Owls. Dances of India, a free performance presented by the Los Alamos Family Y Kathak and Bhratnatyam classes, will be from 7-8 p.m. at the White Rock Town Hall. The performance is part of the Los Alamos Public Library’s Family Fun Nights.

Greg Fisher, Los Alamos County economic vitality administrator will be the speaker at the League of Women Voters Lunch with a Leader at 11:45 a.m. at PEEC.    The Los Alamos Tuff Riders mountain bike club rides have started. Tuesday and Thursday rides start at Sullivan Field at 5:30 p.m. and go as long as there is daylight. Saturday rides are at 9 a.m. at the roundabout. These are cross-country rides at beginner through advance levels of skill and fitness. Newcomers are welcome. Helmets are required.
