 Los Alamos Public Schools Superintendent Gene Schmidt and former teacher Kelly Myers will present the findings of almost a year-long effort on a long range planning report during the monthly League of Women Voters Lunch with a Leader meeting. A Love Stinks party for teens ages 13-18 will be from 3:30-5:30 p.m. at Mesa Public Library.

The third of three Los Alamos Public Schools Long-Range Financial Planning community meetings will be from 6:30-8 p.m. at Aspen Elementary.

Poetry Gatherings will be at 6:30 p.m. in the Mesa Public Library’s upstairs rotunda.

The Los Alamos Genealogical Association will hold its monthly meeting in Room 3 of the Mesa Public Library. They will discuss the influence of religion on their ancestors. The public is invited. For more information call Jodie Frye at 662-3381.
Sombrillo Rehab and Nursing Center is having its first Valentine’s Day Prom from 6-7:30 p.m. Donations of used-good condition prom-like dresses and men’s suit jackets are being sought. The residents will use all donations for this special night. Drop off donations to Sombrillo, attention Dixie Ortiz, manager of the activities department.
The Valentine Coffeehouse, sponsored by the Los Alamos Arts Council, will be at 7:30 p.m. at Fuller Lodge and includes dessert and a beverage. Music begins at 8:15 p.m. Tickets are available at CB Fox.

A Valentine Comedy Evening with Desserts, featuring comedian Nazareth, will be at 7 p.m. at Crossroads Bible Church. This event is only for adults (singles or couples). Tickets are $15 and may be purchased at Crossroads Bible Church during office hours, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday. Enjoy a relevant, uplifting, multi-cultured and exuberantly funny evening.

What’s That Bird in My Backyard? A class for beginning bird identification with local expert Dave Yeamans, using lots of photos from his backyard, will be at 7 p.m. at Pajarito Environmental Education Center. Psychotherapist Penelope Perryman and accredited art appraiser Caroline Seigel discuss how to manage collections of personal property, including inventorying and researching market value and helping collectors make informed management decisions at 1 p.m. at the Betty Ehart Senior Center. Participants will learn how to create a basic inventory, discover if a re-sale market exists for their possessions and how to plan a donation. Perryman will discuss the myriad of feelings that accompany letting go of possessions and how to approach the process with confidence.
