After three straight weekends at tournaments, the Los Alamos Hilltopper baseball team will be back at home this afternoon.

Los Alamos will host Pojoaque in a nondistrict game today at Bomber Field. That game is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.

The Hilltoppers (3-8) have finished seventh in all three of their season tournaments, including last weekend’s Aztec Invitational.

Los Alamos lost its first two games of the tournament to Farmington 12-2, and Piedra Vista 8-0, before coming back to beat Aztec’s Tigers 20-9.

Of Los Alamos’ eight losses on the season, four have been to Piedra Vista’s Panthers and two others have been to Farmington’s Scorpions.

The Hilltoppers opened the season with two losses to the Panthers at home.

Again at Aztec, the Hilltoppers were able to put up big offensive numbers in a seventh-place game. So far this season, the Hilltoppers have scored more than twice the runs in their three wins (55) than they have in their eight losses (26).

Los Alamos has a pair of scheduled games this week, which are its final two games before its District 2AAAA opener. Following today’s game against Pojoaque and Saturday’s game at Moriarty (3-0), Los Alamos will be at Taos April 1.

Pojoaque (5-2) goes into today’s game off a 10-6 loss to Sandia Prep Saturday. Los Alamos topped Sandia Prep 13-8 in the seventh-place game of the St. Pius X Invitational March 14.

The Elks have shown the ability to put runs on the board this season, scoring 32 runs in a doubleheader against Los Alamos’ 2AAAA rival Capital March 17 and 13 more against Lordsburg Saturday in a victory at Sandia Prep’s tournament.

Following their game against Taos, the Hilltoppers have one more nondistrict contest of the season scheduled, that coming April 3 against Albuquerque Academy.
