The Los Alamos Lads of Enchantment (LOE) will hold its 18th Annual Barbershop Show on Friday and Saturday at the White Rock Baptist Church.  The show, “Love, Wonderful Love,” will feature the Lads of Enchantment and McPhly, the 2008 Barbershop Harmony Society Rocky Mountain District (RMD) Quartet Champion.

McPhly is a new, upcoming quartet associated with Denver’s Sound of the Rockies Chorus and the fourth place finisher in International Chorus Completion in 2009. In the fall of 2008, four veterans of the Denver a cappella scene came together to form McPhly. McPhly members decided to blend their talents in order to compete in the Rocky Mountain District Quartet Contest. After singing together for only a few weeks, McPhly won the gold and was crowned Rocky Mountain District Quartet Champions for 2008. During 2009, the group placed 15th in the world in their first appearance together in international quartet competition.

Cutis Terry (lead) and Ryan Wilson (baritone) are McPhly’s most experienced international performers. Terry is well-known as the lead singer for Ignition Quartet.  Ignition placed as high as 12th in international quartet competition and performed throughout the country,                                  including a crowd-pleasing performance at Los Alamos in 2005. Wilson was the lead singer in a number of outstanding quartets and has won the RMD Quartet Championship an unprecedented six times.  Prior to singing baritone with McPhly, Wilson was the lead singer for Nexus Quartet.

Nexus was an international semi-finalist in 2007 and 2008 and gave a terrific performance at the 2006 LOE show.

McPhly’s younger members are Travis Tabares (bass) and Brian Fox (tenor). Tabares sang bass for Revolution Quartet, a quarter-finalist in international competition and the third place finisher at the collegiate level in 2008.

Fox sang tenor with Revolution in 2006 and was the tenor for TAGTEAM Quartet, which placed in the top ten of collegiate quartet competition in 2008.  More about McPhly and their music is available at www.mcphlyqt.com.

The theme of this year’s LOE presentation deals with the different aspects of love. Among the featured songs are “With A Smile and a Song” from Disney’s “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”, Irving Berlin’s “When I Lost You” and “Who’s Sorry Now?”

Friday’s show will begin at 7:30 p.m. An Afterglow, or a show after the show, with a snack and more singing, will be held after the performance for $5. Saturday’s show will be a matinee performance beginning at 2:30 p.m.

Advance tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and be purchased at Brownell’s Hallmark Shop or from LOE Chorus members. For further information, call 672-9371 or visit the LOE Web site at www.ladsofenchantment.com.
