Aquatomics compete at state swim meet

The Los Alamos Aquatomics local swim club will take part in the New Mexico Short Course State Championship meet starting today.
The Aquatomics are sending 25 swimmers to the state meet, which will be at the West Mesa Aquatic Center in Albuquerque. The meet will continue through Sunday.
The Aquatomics are celebrating their 50th season this year.
Along with those athletes who are taking part in this weekend’s meet, four Aquatomics swimmers, Caleb Cook, Andy Corliss, Jane Lee Douglas and Connor Tepley took part in the state 8 and under championship meet in Farmington Feb. 24.
In that meet, Corliss had three top-5 finishes, the 100 individual medley (1:31.47), 50 breaststroke (45.53) and 100 freestyle (1:20.59). Corliss was the state runner-up in the 50 breaststroke in the 8-year-old boys division.
Douglas, in the 6-and-under girls division, had a state runner-up finish in the 50 freestyle (1:26.27) and a fifth-place finish in the 25 backstroke (33.08).
