Courts > School district says Moore doesn’t have substitute teacher job

By Tris DeRoma

Roy Moore, 67, the man accused of dealing marijuana out of his house and having 43 marijuana plants in his home, was recently released on from county jail on a $2,500 bond.
The order was set after it was clear Moore was going to be needlessly held in jail for longer than the maximum 10-day period after being arrested for his alleged crimes. It was up to Moore to make his bail, however.
Moore appeared in court with his lawyer, Tyr Loranger last week. Loranger told Judge Mathew Page that since this was the first time he met his client, he is going to need time to prepare for Moore’s preliminary hearing, which is set for sometime in May.
Moore remains under house arrest until his preliminary hearing date, which has not been set.
Assistant District Attorney Kent Wahlquist agreed to the release, provided Moore agreed to be available to the court’s probation officers at all times, allow officers to conduct surprise searches of his home, and that he not leave town until his court date, where it will be determined whether or not there is enough evidence to try him in district court.
During the conditions of release hearing, Wahlquist asked the judge to keep Moore’s bond at $11,000, as an assurance that he will stay in jail until his hearing.
