The Christmas party for the Los Alamos Master Gardeners will be at 6 p.m. at the home of Denise George, 411 Cheryl, White Rock. It will be a potluck event, so members should bring a dish to share.

The Los Alamos High School Olions present the student-directed one acts, “The Compensation Vectors of Fish,” by Chloe Reichelt, directed by Alex Denevers; “The Ugly Duckling,” by A.A. Milne, directed by Evan Bolton; and “For the Children,” written and directed by Elizabeth Bailey, at 7 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the LAHS Speech Theater. Tickets are $5 for students and seniors and $10 for adults.

Los Alamos Chapter #63 Order of Eastern Star will sell Collin Street Bakery fruitcakes at Los Alamos National Bank from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Dec. 10 and Dec. 17. For information, call Betty Robertson at 662-5185 or Nina Laird, 662-7580.
Parents are welcome to drop off kids ages 5-12 from 2-4 p.m. (note new time) to make holiday gifts from recycled or natural materials and even decorate their own gift wrappings. Los Alamos High School ballroom dance classes will put on the Winter Dance Show at 7 p.m. in the Duane Smith Auditorium. This free show will feature performances by LAHS students, Barranca School Swing Dancing Club and LAHS graduates who have continued with the dance in colleges and universities.

A Christmas in New Mexico dinner will be held at
6:30 p.m. at the Santa Fe Lodge, 750 N. St. Francis Dr. It is sponsored by the Christian Women’s Club and the After 5 Club. The Mariachi Buenaventura (Santa Fe’s all-female Mariachis) will entertain. Speaker Dean Graves of Albuquerque will present “The Blessings of Prison Life.”  Cost is $20 inclusive. Friends and family are invited. For reservations call Fran at 473-7934 or Barbara at 690-9831.

Dance Arts Los Alamos’ production of “Nuts, Crackers, and Sweets” is a modern twist on the traditional “Nutcracker” and features many genres of dance including modern, tap, jazz as well as ballet. It will be at 6:30 p.m. at the Duane Smith Auditorium. A lively hip hop battle scene staged by faculty member Manny Romero will be a highlight of the show. Tickets are $5 at the door.

The Christian Church is hosting a Christmas movie premier at 7 pm. Dec. 15 and at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Dec. 19 at the Christian Church, 92 East Road. “A Christmas Snow” will challenge attendees with the message of forgiveness and redemption. It will bring home the real meaning of Christmas. Tickets are $5.

Skate to holiday music on the outdoor ice rink lit with the reflection of holiday lights under the starry night sky from 6-8 p.m. at the Christmas Eve Luminaria Skate at the Ice Rink.
