Lunch with a leader

The League of Women Voters will have their Lunch with a Leader at 11:45 a.m.  Nov. 10 at the Central Avenue Grill. The speaker will be Craig Martin, Los Alamos County open space specialist and author of several books about the Los Alamos area.

Martin will discuss the progress made since the Cerro Grande fire and present ways to ensure the fire is never repeated. Besides leading hikes and working on trails, Martin has been instrumental in helping students do community service work.

The eighth-graders at Los Alamos Middle School have done trail work for more than 10 years. In fact, some of the work they did stopped the fire from spreading. Members and non-members of the League are cordially invited to attend.

Orders will be taken at the event. Members can show up at the last minute, but if people know they will attend, RSVP to Karyl Ann Armbruster at kaskacayman@gmail.com or 661-6605 by Nov. 9.

UNM-LA Advisory Board meeting

The meeting is open to the public. For more information, call 662-0330.
