The Los Alamos Farmers Market will run from 7 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in the Mesa Public Library parking lot.


Family Game Night at Mesa Public Library. Join the geeks and gamers from 5:30-8:30 p.m. in the upstairs rotunda for game boards galore. All ages welcome, please bring a parent or another adult if you’re 12 or younger.


The monthly Los Alamos County Democratic meeting will be at 7 p.m. at Mesa Public Library. The topics of the meeting will be the upcoming events with congressmen, candidate updates and other developing news. All registered Democrats are invited to attend.



There will be a Masonic Waffle Breakfast 7:30-10 a.m. at the Los Alamos Masonic Lodge, 15th and Canyon. Proceeds benefit Habitat for Humanity’s 2012 Jimmy and Rosalyn Carter Work Project in Haiti. Price of the breakfast is $7 and $3 for children age six and younger. 


Trinity on the Hill Episcopal Church will present a high tea and fashion show event at 2:30 p.m. at 3900 Trinity Dr. This is the third annual event. All proceeds go toward the two-house build trips to Juaréz in the fall. For more information, call Cathy Walters at 662-5107.


The American Legion will host the Operation Wounded Warrior Benefit shrimp boil dinner from 4:30-7 p.m. There will also be a raffle for goodies and a 50/50 drawing, along with entertainment by Todd Tijerina from 7-11 p.m. Cost of the dinner is $10. There’s a $2 cover charge for the entertainment, but that will be waived with provision of donated items such as hygiene items, undergarments, exercise clothing, books, etc. 


Rainwater Harvesting Workshop at PEEC, sponsored by the Department of Public Utilities.  Jeffrey Adams, founder of terrasophia, an ecological design-consulting firm will share practical strategies to make the best use of rainwater in the landscape. 2-4 p.m. at PEEC. Los Alamos Little Theatre announced auditions for “The Woman in Black,” from 2-5 p.m. at the Los Alamos Performing Arts Center, 1670 Nectar St. Scripts are available at Mesa Public Library for overnight check-out. Auditioning for one man, age 25-35 and one man, age 40-65. Also auditioning for two women who have a non-speaking role, but whose role is vital. British accents would be a plus. Performance dates are at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 2,3,9,10,16 and 17 and 2 p.m. Nov. 11. Award-winning University of California-Berkeley astrophysicist Alex Filippenko will deliver the 42nd Oppenheimer Memorial Lecture at 7:30 p.m. in the Duane Smith Auditorium. The lecture, “Dark Energy and the Runaway Universe,” is free and open to the public.

The Tuesday Morning Women’s Bowling League is accepting new league members for the 2012-2013 season. There will be a 9 a.m. business meeting at the Santa Claran Casino in Española, with bowling to follow.  Dave Melton, pilot of the hot air balloon Purple Haze, will talk about his experiences of being aloft in a balloon during the Rotary meeting, from 11:45 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Dixie Girl.
