Police Beat

  Several thefts from the yards of homes in Los Alamos and White Rock and the threat of bodily harm lodged during an extortion attempt against a local woman top this week’s Police Beat. Read the full report on Page 2.

Eat at the Hill today

  The Hill Diner will donate 10 percent of its sales from 5-8 p.m. today to high school Senior Appreciation Night.

Free cancer seminar

  A free seminar on prostate cancer diagnosis and treatment, sponsored by the Los Alamos Council on Cancer, will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at Trinity on the Hill Episcopal Church. Brisket night

  The Los Alamos NJROTC will host a brisket night from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the Posse Lodge. The meal includes brisket, corn on the cob, potato salad, baked beans, dinner roll, a drink and dessert. The fee is $10.

Spring is in the air

  Los Alamos Arts Council presents the Spring Arts and Crafts Fair from

9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday on the lawn at Fuller Lodge.

Grey Matters

  The Grey Matters Run for Research is an annual fundraiser held at Rover Park  in White Rock in honor of Julie Meadows, a local resident who recently lost her battle with brain cancer. Proceeds from this year’s event will be donated to the American Brain Tumor Association. Registration and packet pickup will begin at 7 a.m. Saturday. The kid 1K will start at 8 a.m. and the 5K will begin after the 1K run. Further information and registration can be found at www.greymattersrun.org.

Master Gardeners

  The Los Alamos Master Gardeners will meet at

 6 p.m. May 4 in the White Rock Community Building. There will be a potluck dinner in honor of the graduates of the 2010 Master Gardener class.
