“Touched by fire”

  “Touched by Fire: Hands that Help, Hands that Create,” the newest exhibit at Mesa Public Library will have an opening reception from 5-7:30 p.m. Thursday in the upstairs gallery.

Social dance Friday

  Ballroom Etcetera will host a social dance at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Unitarian Church. Music will include Ballroom, Latin, Swing, and Country and Western. A $3 donation per person is requested; no partner is required.

Dark Night Saturday

  The Pajarito Astronomers will hold the first County-Sponsored Dark Night of the year at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Spirio Soccer Field in Overlook Park. Weather permitting, the public is invited to come out, wander among the telescopes and star gaze. The planets Mercury, Venus, Mars and Saturn will be viewed. There will be a tour of the winter and spring constellations, and there will be telescope views of double stars, star clusters, nebulae and galaxies. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.

Waffle breakfast

  The Los Alamos High School baseball team is having a waffle breakfast from 7:30-10 a.m. Saturday at the Masonic Lodge, located at 15th Street and Canyon Road, to help raise funds for uniforms, equipment and travel. The full breakfast of homemade waffles, scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, coffee, tea and juice will cost $6 per person.

P.E.O. meeting

  The Chapter AK of  P.E.O. International will hold a meeting at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the home of Linda Anderson. The meeting will open with special guest speaker Gary Storkin, who will talk about an alternative approach to allergy treatment.
